Lung Transplantation Research Lab
Experimental focus
Our focus is on the study of the basic immunological processes that operate after lung transplantation. In particular, we study the alloreactive and autoreactive response against the lung allograft at both the cellular and molecular levels, with special emphasis on humoral activation and immunomodulation.
The laboratory's close contact with one of the world's most active lung transplant centers ensures an excellent environment for conducting translational research to improve diagnostic capabilities and therapeutic strategies after lung transplantation.
Clinical focus
We participate in the development of novel immunosuppressive protocols and investigate their mechanisms of action to promote immunomodulation and transplant tolerance. The second major clinical focus of our research group is ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP). In this context, the main concern of our group is to develop an efficient and stable platform for prolonged allograft assessment and conditioning.
